Private Reserve

Nature Observatorio Rainforest Private Reserve is located within the Gandoca- Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge on the Caribbean Coast in the Province of Limon, is a 16 hectares of untouched paradise on earth. A small river is born inside the property and makes its way along side of giant trees.
The intense jungle sounds of the creatures living above and below the canopy, the smell of the growing plants and flowers and all the colorfull spectrum of leaves makes this an unforgetable experience for visitors.
Trying to protect the rainforest of the Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica we are purchasing the land arround the Private Reserve, for our children childrens, for the future generations, for all the diversity of plants, trees, insects, mammals, to keep untouch their habitat, their home.

Over a quarter of Costa Rica territory consists of protected areas that are composed of National Parks, National Reserves, Natural Refuges, Wildlife Refuges, Marine Sanctuaries, Conservation Areas, Biological Reserves and Private Nature Reserves.

The parks and reserves are home to over 200 mammals, including six species of felines - jaguar, ocelot, margay, puma, jaguarundi and tiger cats.   There are 857 species of bird, 11,000 insects and over 9,000 species of plants, including 1,200 beautiful verities of orchids and many trees.

Restoring and preserving the native forest protects the biodiversity.
Deforestation is causing the loss of about 100 species every day -- 4 species per hour. Preserving forest and planting trees also helps offset air pollution. As they grow, trees absorb carbon dioxide from the air. This project is but a tiny step to counteract global climate change, but every tree matters.
Only by experiencing it, can people truly gain an understanding how precious are our tropical forests. We offer opportunities for volunteers and scientific researchers where they can contribute to the well-being of the planet. The type of research needed is on the ecology of the area, the different species of plant, animal and birds.
